The Biancocelesti certainly won't be happy with this result.

With three losses from their past five Serie A games, and pretty much already out of the Champions League following a heavy 4-1 home defeat to Bayern Munich, it's safe to say that Lazio were hoping to get some sort of break.

Simone Inzaghi's men currently sit in seventh spot, six points away from fourth-placed Atalanta, and while they still have a good shot at securing Champions League football for next season, things would have been made a lot easier had they received the results they had expected.

Earlier this season, Lazio saw their match with Torino called off after the Granata failed to show up in Rome on March 2nd. This was due to an outbreak of COVID-19 among the visitors' ranks that had forced them to also cancel a match against Sassuolo the prior round.

As such, Lazio were hoping, given that Torino had already used their "get out of jail free" card once, to be awarded a 3-0 default win, with the Granata forced to forfeit that match.

Unfortunately for the Aquile - and fortunately perhaps for their relegation-threatened opponents - Italian football's sporting authorities ruled that Lazio would not be given all three points as it was deemed to be unfair and basically harshly punitive to Torino.

In short, COVID-19 is out of Torino's control, so they can't be held liable for missing the match. And if they can't be held liable for missing the match, they can't be punished - meaning that Lazio aren't in the right to claim a default 3-0 win.

As a result, Serie A will have to find a way to reschedule this match - that is, unless if the Biancocelesti successfully appeal the ruling.

Lazio will now have to turn their attention towards somehow overhauling that 4-1 deficit as they face a rather daunting trip to Bayern's home ground on Wednesday evening.
