Forward Hulk is one of the few players in Europe to have enjoyed a perfect campaign. Yet, he won’t be seen in Brazil’s iconic colors during the 2011 Copa America as his name hasn’t been included in Mano Menezes’ man squad for the tournament in July.
The Brazilian international won the treble with FC Porto and stood out as the Dragons’ playmaker throughout the season, alongside Colombian team mate Falcao. Hulk poached as much as 36 goals in total for FC Porto last season. He also made 21 assists in 51 appearances as he hit his personal best in his career as an individual.

However, it has been understood that Santos’ Neymar and AC Milan’s Robinho have been ranked ahead of him in Brazil’s pecking order. Interestingly, Hulk’s only memories in the Verde-Amarela jersey come from 2009 when he played some part in Brazil’s international friendly matches against England and Oman.

And will encounters for his country ever become a regular thing in his career? According to Dunga, who compared Hulk to World Cup winner Ronaldo, time and efforts could open more avenues in the player’s international future as a professional footballer.

“Ronaldo was a player like no other. However, his place in the national squad is still there,” the ex-Seleçao coach told newspaper Record according to Goal.com.

“So, Hulk could become his successor. But he’s not alone in that race. There are several players who can get there. But he’s got the necessary qualities to impose himself in that fight.

“If Hulk continues to play at Porto like he did last season, he will certainly start playing more regularly [for Brazil] before that [2014 World Cup] competition. Now, it will all depend on himself and on how he progresses.”
