The Portuguese goalkeeper was involved in a nasty collision with defender Conor Coady.

Wolves were handed a massive injury worry on Monday night after goalkeeper Rui Patricio took a blow to his head in the night's clash with Liverpool. The Portuguese shot-stopper collided with the knee of teammate Conor Coady in an attempt to stop Mohamed Salah from getting on the scoresheet before the visitors run away with a 1-0 win.

The former Sporting CP goalkeeper managed to keep the Reds at bay for close to the full duration of the first half before his compartriot and former teammate Diogo Jota broke the deadlock for Jurgen Klopp's side in injury time. The Wolves brigade kept pushing for an equalizer but their effort proved futile as the defending champions held their land. In the end, Nuno Espirito Santo's side had more to think about other than extending the winless run to five following Patricio's injury.

The sickening clash ensued in the 87th minute after the 33-year-old goalkeeper moved to stop Mohamed Salah from being through on goal. Although the flag went up for offside, he ended up in the path of Conor Coady and subsequently took a blow to his head. The Wolves medical team were immediately signalled on to administer treatment and the injured shot-stopper ended up receiving oxygen before being stretchered off. Subsequent reports revealed that Patricio was conscious although the full extent of his injury has not been yet ascertained.

Earlier this season, Wolves lost their star striker Raul Jimenez to a horrific head injury in their encounter with Arsenal. The Mexican superstar who is still recovering from the knock collided with David Luiz and also ended up being stretchered off after receiving oxygen.
