The Spanish center-back is out of contract this summer and has been linked with a free transfer to the likes of PSG and Barcelona.

One of the biggest worries at Real Madrid heading into the upcoming summer transfer window is the future of Sergio Ramos. The iconic center-back is in the final months of his Bernabeu deal and will be without contract come this summer, meaning the club captain could walk out the door in a few months for free.

Despite being 34, the Spaniard remains one of the finest defenders in world football. As a result, several European giants are keen on acquiring his services in a Bosman transfer. PSG and Man United have been linked with the four-time UEFA Champions League winner, with the Red Devils said to have the advantage.

Talks over a new deal broke down after the former Sevilla man was asked to take a pay cut. Despite this, Los Blancos prefer to keep their long-serving skipper in the Spanish capital, as was evident from Zidane's recent response when drilled about Ramos' future.

"I want to be honest and I have to say I don't know what's going to happen with him," the French tactician openly admitted in a press conference (as per Goal).

"We want him to stay here. He's always going to be an important player and I want him to remain here, that's what I'll say as a coach.

"Will Ramos play until he's 40? That is what Sergio has said. He is a special player. His intention is already good because he wants to continue playing.

"Every year he will know if he is in good shape and, if he is like he is now, of course he can play until he is 40, if he wants."

Ramos opened up about his contract situation not too long ago, revealing that there has been no progress in their negotiations. The 2010 World Cup winner was also adamant he can play at the highest level for a few more years, hinting that should he departure, it will be for a top club.
