Although PSG and their fans are concerned whether Kylian Mbappe will remain at the Parc des Princes, Les Parisiens can take comfort in the fact that they've secured another star for 12 more months. Angel Di Maria looks set to remain for another year after the Argentinian international inked a one-year extension to his prior contract, which was set to expire at the end of this year.
And if PSG's execs are satisfied with his showings both during the 2021/2022 campaign and the present one, they may offer him yet another 12 month extension to keep him until 2023.
After winning multiple trophies with Real Madrid, Di Maria moved to England, but his one year with Manchester United was an absolute disaster. As such, in 2015, he hightailed it out of England to try his luck in Ligue 1.
It's paid off. To date, the wiry attacker has won 16 titles with the French giants, including four Ligue 1 titles. He's just one away from achieving a century of assists, and five from surpassing PSG's all-time assist king, while he's scored over 80 goals for the club - which puts him in the all-time top ten in terms of goals scored.
With PSG having dispatched Barcelona en route to this season's quarter finals, Di Maria will naturally hope that this time around, Les Parisiens will be the one on the winners podium lifting the coveted trophy. On the domestic front, he and his teammates will be battling to ensure that the Ligue 1 crown remains in Paris for another season.
