Lille manager Frederic Paquet has confirmed that the club will be starting negotiations over the transfer of Gervinho with Arsenal.
Gervinho initially caught the eye of many with his energetic performances for Ivory Coast in the FIFA World Cup last summer. And the player did no harm to his reputation by notching up 15 goals and 10 assists in Lille's impressive campaign last season.

Recently, reports emerged over some serious interest from Arsenal with Marouane Chamakh and Nicklas Bendter not performing up to their expectations. Now, Paquet has confirmed that talks with the Gunners will begin real soon.

Paquet told RMC: "He wants to go and has developed contacts with Arsenal. We will soon have talks with them and see what they offer.

"He has expressed a desire to go to England and we will see what happens. Paris St Germain inquired but we are not thinking about strengthening a competitor.''

Gervinho's potential transfer is likely to be the first of many after Wenger conceded that the squad will need some major improvements during the summer. Who else do you think will be joining Arsenal this summer?
