February 25, 2021 By Ali M.
Chelsea vs Man Utd, Barcelona vs Sevilla, Leicester vs Arsenal, Roma vs AC Milan, and Real Madrid vs Real Sociedad comprise our list of must-watch games.

What are the must-watch games this week?

Chelsea vs Man United this Sunday at 11:30 a.m. ET and Liverpool vs Chelsea this Thursday at 3:15 p.m. ET

Chelsea will be in for one hectic week, with the Blues preparing for crucial Premier League fixtures this weekend and during the midweek. Tuchel's men just got off beating Atletico Madrid 1-0 in the first leg of their round of 16 UEFA Champions League tie but it's straight back into the lion's den as the London giants are set to face Man United and Chelsea in succession in the English top-flight. The first of those two thrillers will see the fifth-placed side host the Red Devils at Stamford Bridge live on NBC Sports, Telemundo, and SiriusXM FC as they look to play catch-up with fourth-placed West Ham, who they trail by two points. After that is a trip to Anfield, which will be brought live to the US screens courtesy of Peacock, as Mount and Co. aim to add to Liverpool's recent woes. These back-to-back fixtures could go a long way in deciding whether Chelsea qualify for the UCL next season or whether the mega-rich club will have to make do with Europa League football in 2021/22.

Barcelona gearing up for crucial week as the Blaugrana are set to face Sevilla twice in the span of five days

Chelsea aren't the only ones in line for a make-or-break week as the same is true for Barcelona. The Blaugrana are gearing up to face Sevilla twice in the span of five days, the first being a Spanish Primera Division showdown and the latter being the 2nd leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final affair. The first encounter could set the tone for the latter as Messi and Co. must first travel to the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium. This game will be aired live via beIN Sports and Fanatiz USA as the Catalan giants look to beat Los Hispalenses in order to gain ground on league leaders Atletico, who they trail by only five points after a few hiccups from Simeone's side. Victory on Saturday could spark life back into Barcelona's title bid, and it would also give them much-needed confidence in their bid to overturn the 2-0 deficit in the King's Cup when they face off on Wednesday (live on ESPN+).

Roma vs AC Milan this Sunday at 2:45 p.m. ET live on ESPN+

AC Milan have booked their spot in the UEFA Europa League last 16, beating Crvena Zvezda on away goals to secure progression. The focus now shifts back to the Italian top-flight as Pioli's men are in dire need of a return to winning ways. Ibrahimovic and Co. are without victory in their last four games, losing their last two domestic fixtures. Next up for the Rossoneri is a tricky trip to Roma. The Giallorossi are fourth in the table and could move within two points of their second-placed rivals should they triumph over the weekend. Do not miss this encounter!

Messi sends classy message of support to Ronaldinho after the death of the Brazilian's mother

Lionel Messi led the tributes for former Barcelona team-mate Ronaldinho after it was confirmed the Brazilian icon's mother sadly passed away. The Argentine star joined the likes of Atletico Mineiro in showing support for the Selecao legend during this family tragedy.

"Ronnie, I have no words, I can't believe it," Messi wrote on Instagram.

"Just sending you a lot of strength and a big hug to you and the family. I'm very sorry, RIP."

Atletico Mineiro, who Ronaldinho played for from 2012 to 2014, also issued a classy statement on social media, writing: "[The] club is mourning the death of Dona Miguelina.

"It is with great sadness that Clube Atlético Mineiro receives the news of the death of Dona Miguelina, mother of Ronaldinho.

"The Atleticana Family is in mourning and shares the moment of pain with their idol.

"May God welcome you with open arms and comfort the heart of our eternal ace. Rest in peace, Dona Miguelina."

Lewandowski reaches excellent feat in Bayern's 4-1 win over Lazio

On Tuesday, reigning champs Bayern Munich faced Lazio, and as expected, die Roten had no problems dispatching their Italian hosts at the Stadio Olimpico as they cruised to a 4-1 win.

And it's not surprising that some records were set as well. Robert Lewandowski, who is currently in pole contention to successfully defend his Torjägerkanone crown for the fourth straight season, has also been quietly going about his business in the Champions League. The 32-year-old Polish international may not be on top of the charts there - that prize currently belongs to Dortmund's Erling Haaland - but his goal against Lazio has helped him move up the ranks in a very elite chart.

With 72 goals, Lewandowski is now third in the all-time top goalscorers charts, and has thus overtaken Real Madrid's icon Raul, who sits on 71.

The two players ahead of the 2020 Treble winner? Not surprisingly, it's Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, of course. Both players have scored over a 100 goals - 134 for Ronaldo and 119 for Messi - so it goes without saying that Lewandowski has a long way to go to catch up to the multi-Ballon d'Or winners.

Not that it's likely going to bother him, as he's firmly focused on breaking Gerd Muller's nearly 40-year-old record for most goals in a Bundesliga season (40). In any case, Lewandowski, who's the Bundesliga's only representative in the top five, will have a chance to add to his impressive Champions League tally when Bayern take on Lazio at the Allianz Arena next month.

Zidane's Real Madrid maintain excellent record against Serie A clubs after 1-0 Atalanta win

Real Madrid escaped from their UEFA Champions League game against Atalanta with a one-nil win, and that only extended the team's successful run when playing in Italy. Los Blancos had a woeful record against Serie A teams in the top club competition in Europe, with only four wins in their first 30 visits to Italy. Since Zidane's arrival, the team's fortunes changed and earned them six wins in six matches against Italian opponents.

Man City make history with 12 successive away win

Man City set a new record for English clubs with Wednesday night's Champions League Round of 16 win over Borussia Monchengladbach. The Citizens secured a 2-0 win in the encounter to become the first English club to ever win 12 consecutive away games.

Goals by Bernardo Silva and Gabriel Jesus were enough to put Pep's Guardiola's side in front ahead of the second leg clash at the Etihad. With that result, Manchester City extended their record number of successive wins to 19 in all competitions. They are now 4 wins away from breaking the world record for the longest winning run of 24 set by Brazilian club Coritiba between 3 February and 5 May, 2011.
