The international women’s tournament annually hosted by France, the Tournoi de France, was canceled after Norway and Iceland backed out due to health concerns over COVID-19, according to French newspaper L’Equipe.

The 2021 edition of the Tournoi de France was supposed to take place in Metz and Sedan, where No. 3 France, No. 11 Norway, No. 16 Iceland and No. 19 Switzerland face one another in a round-robin format just like the SheBelieves Cup. However, the French Football Federation (FFF) announced the cancelation of the competition, which was scheduled to kick off on February 17, on Friday morning.

Norway and Iceland decided to back out of the tournament earlier this week due to a rise in health concerns. Given that, the FFF was left with no other option but to cancel the tournament.

Despite the inconvenience, the French national team will still gear up for a doubleheader friendly against Switzerland – like the USWNT's doubleheader against Colombia in January at Orlando – on Feb. 20 and 23. The last time these two sides met at an international tournament was the 2017 UEFA Women's European Cup, where they drew 1-1.
