Los Blancos return to action this weekend, taking on Huesca with the aim of returning to winning ways. Here's a preview of Saturday's game.

Huesca vs Real Madrid – preview

Real Madrid return to action in La Liga as the reigning champions gear up for a hectic fixtures list, playing three games in the span of nine days. The first of those three fixtures will take place on Saturday, with Los Blancos set to travel to Huesca for their 10:15 a.m. ET clash at the Estadio El Alcoraz.

The goal for Zidane's men in their weekend fixture is simple: to return to winning ways. The Merengues head into this fixture on the back of a disappointing 2-1 loss to Levante, a result which saw Benzema and Co. drop 10 points behind league leaders Atletico Madrid.

Things are made worse by the fact that Simeone's side have a game in hand. Furthermore, Real Madrid have dropped to third in the table, with bitter rivals Barcelona leapfrogging them. Unless Zidane shakes off this poor form, things could get worse for the Spanish giants.

The Santiago Bernabeu outfit have picked up only one win in their last five fixtures while losing three, including their embarrassing Copa del Rey defeat against Alcoyano. After the trip to Huesca, Real Madrid will face Getafe and Valencia, meaning the title holders cannot afford to slip up ahead of those tricky fixtures.

Their opponents, however, aren't faring any better. The home side are bottom in the table, having picked up only two wins in 21 league fixtures. Victory over Los Blancos could go a long way in their relegation battle but that would require a heroic performance.

Team news

Huesca: Juan Carlos Real has recovered from coronavirus and is back with the team. However, Sandro Ramirez and Pedro Mosquera while Pablo Insua is in self-quarantine after testing positive for COVID-19.

Real Madrid: Eden Hazard has picked up yet another muscular injury and will sit this game out. Eder Militao is out due to suspension while Sergio Ramos has been left out of the squad. Federico Valverde, Dani Carvajal, Rodrygo Goes, and Lucas Vazquez are all out but Nacho is back in contention.

Key stats

  • Real Madrid have lost only once in their last 16 away league games.
