After being withheld for almost two months, the FIFA Club World Cup is about to commence.

This year’s FIFA Club World Cup is set to begin and will feature the five regional football champions and host country league winners. The week-long tournament that was delayed by almost two months due to the Covid-19 pandemic, will commence on Thursday in Qatar with stadiums operating at 30 percent capacity. The competition is expected to serve as a test run for the Asian country as they will be hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Bayern Munich arrive as Europe’s contingent and will be joined by South Korea's Ulsan Hyundai, Mexico's Tigers UANL, Egypt's Al Ahly, and South America's Palmeiras and Qatari side Al-Duhail. The tournament’s curtain-raisers are slated for February 4, 2020 and will involve two quarter-final fixtures; Ulsan Hyundai Tigers vs Tigres UANL, as well as Al Duhail vs Al Ahly.

LiveSoccerTV previews the two games and provides information on where to watch both games live.

Tigres UANL vs Ulsan Hyundai Tigers: Clash of the two tigers

K-League side Ulsan Hyundai Tigers and the Liga MX’s Tigres UNAL and will go head to head on Thursday in the first game of this year’s FIFA Club World Cup. The pair will have their sight set on a win as that will guarantee either of them a spot in the penultimate stage of the tournament.

Tigres UANL are odds on favorites to cruise to the next round despite their shortcomings on the domestic front. They go into the clash with Ulsan Hyundai in sixth position on the Liga MX table, having managed just two wins from four outings so far this season. They have collected seven wins from their last 17 outings and are also without a win in their last three domestic matches. Nevertheless, on the global stage, Tigres will seek to prove a point despite their status as debutants.

Ulsan Hyundai Tigers, meanwhile, will enter the upcoming clash off the back of a lengthy period of rest. Following their success in the final of the AFC Champions League in December, the South Korea club has not featured in any competitive game till day.

However, their incredible run in the Asian cup competition bears mentioning as they managed an astonishing nine wins throughout the campaign. Most of their success was built off their robust defence and, coming up against a well attacking club like Tigres, that will be quite a spectacle.

Al Duhail vs Al Ahly: Champions of host-country to welcome the kings of Africa

Local representatives Al Duhali will take on winners of the CAF Champions League Al Ahly in the second round two fixture. The Red Knights booked their slot in the tournament with a bye after OFC representatives Auckland City pulled out of the playoffs due to COVID-19 restrictions in New Zealand. They are the reigning champions of the Qatar Stars League and will look to get the better of Al Ahly as they will enter the clash with just one defeat in their last eight outings.

Regardless, their opponent from Egypt will not be pushovers having booked their place at the tournament by beating local rivals Zamalek in the final of the CAF Champions League last November. They are currently on a 31-game unbeaten run with their last defeat coming against Zamalek via a 3-1 scoreline in August 2020.
