The left-back came off the bench to score the deciding goal in Saturday night's continental cup final.

Saturday's frantic Copa Libertadores final was decided at the death with Palmeiras securing their second-ever title at the expense of Santos. Substitute Breno Lopes scored a dramatic 99th-minute winner to spark wild celebrations in the Maracana as the Big Green emerged as victors in South America's prestigious competition for the first time since 1999.

Prior to the frantic ending, very little entertainment was witnessed in the whole 90 minutes with both Palmeiras and Santos producing just a shot on target within the period. With an uncountable number of stoppages ruining the flow of the game, eight minutes were added on to make up for the lost time.

Shortly after, Santos head coach Cuca was sent off for an altercation with Palmeiras defender Marcos Rocha and had to watch on from the stands before the game was turned on its head. Having only been substituted on for Menino in the 85th minute, Breno Lopes emerged as the hero to head Rony's cross home for the final's first and only goal in the extended extra-time. The final whistle was not blown until the 104th minute as Santos unsuccessfully chased an equalizer.
