The Nerazzurri resume their Serie A campaign having recently beaten AC Milan in the Coppa Italia. Will Conte’s men add Benevento to their list of victims? Here’s a preview of Saturday’s San Siro tie.

Inter Milan vs Benevento – preview

Inter Milan are ready to resume their Serie A campaign, having recently taken a break from the Italian top-flight for the Coppa Italia. The focus is now back on the Scudetto race, with Antonio Conte's men gearing up for a 2:45 p.m. ET clash with newly-promoted side Benevento.

The Nerazzurri enter this game on the back of their 2-1 cup victory over AC Milan, beating their bitter city rivals in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals. Eriksen sealed the victory for Conte's men, scoring a last-minute free kick to set up a juicy showdown with Juventus in the semis.

That derby had everything: goals, fights, and even a red card, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic being sent off after picking up two yellow cards. The Swedish icon, who scored the first goal in that fixture, was involved in a heated bust-up with Romelu Lukaku, which dominated the headlines. However, Inter came away with the win and all the bragging rights, which was the crucial part.

Despite this, things have been shaky for Lukaku and Co. in the Italian top-flight as of late. While the Nerazzurri are second in the league, only two points behind leaders AC Milan, their recent form has been inconsistent. The Italian giants are in contention to end their 11-year wait for a Serie A title, but with only two wins in their last five fixtures, many worry whether Conte's side can maintain their title push.

Benevento haven't been in great form either, having gone three straight games without a victory. Furthermore, they have won only six times in 19 games and thus sit in 11th. The goal for the Sorcerers this season is to remain in the Italian top-flight but the San Siro outfit must not let their guard down against the newly-promoted club.

Team news

Inter Milan: Matias Vecino and Danilo D'Ambrosio have not yet returned from injury and will thus miss this game.  Hakimi and Young are likely to return to the lineup but the jury is still out on Alexis Sanchez amid the Roma links.

Benevento: Gaetano Letizia, Daam Foulon, Massimo Volta, and Gabriele Moncini are all out for the visitors. Marco Sau misses this fixture through suspension while Roberto Insigne is a doubt.
