The Citizens will host a Sheffield United side that recently beat the other Manchester giant, Man United, 2-1 at Old Trafford. Will Guardiola's men suffer a similar fate? Here's our preview for Saturday's game.

Man City vs Sheffield United – Preview

Man City return to action in the Premier League this Saturday for their 10 a.m. ET clash with Sheffield United, with the question on everyone's mind being whether the Blades can make it back-to-back wins in Manchester or not.

Chris Wilder's men head into this fixture on the back of their surprising win at Old Trafford. The relegation-battling side visited Man United over the midweek in what many expected to be a straight-forward victory for Solskjaer's men. However, Sheffield emerged triumphant, beating Bruno Fernandes and Co. 2-1 to record only their second win of the Premier League season.

Defensive blunders from the Red Devils played a crucial part in both of Sheffield's goals but Wilder's men received plaudits for their effort, nonetheless. Will they consecutive wins against Manchester's two biggest clubs? Not if the Citizens have a say.

Guardiola's high-flying side are on an amazing 11-game winning streak across all competitions, triumphing in each of their last seven league fixtures. They head into this fixture on the back of a convincing win over West Brom – albeit a struggling West Brom side – beating them 5-0.

Gundogan scored a brace in that emphatic match, with Cancelo, Mahrez, and Sterling chipping in with a goal each. That victory moved them a point clear at the top, with Man City boasting a game in hand over Man United and thus being labelled the title favorite. However, the Premier League leaders are gearing up for a tricky 30-day fixtures list and thus cannot afford to drop points at home to Sheffield.

Their first tie for the month of February is a tricky trip to Burnley, with things only getting harder from then on as they will face Liverpool, Arsenal, and Tottenham in succession. Will Sterling and Co. slip up against Sheffield United or will they add the Blades to their growing list of victims? Time will reveal the answer.
