After the sacking of Frank Lampard, Chelsea's new manager will be under immense pressure to turn the Blues' fortunes around as he takes charge for their clash with Wolves.

Preview: Chelsea vs Wolves

Simply put, Chelsea will come into this game in a horrible patch of form. It's hard to believe that only last month, the Blues had lost just one of their first 11 games and were near the top of the league table. Yet, the following week, they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Everton, and it's been downhill since, with the London giants winning just two of their past eight matches. As a result, club icon Frank Lampard was given his marching orders, with Thomas Tuchel, who himself was sacked by PSG last year, now being the man who will be tasked with trying to turn things around.

Lampard's sacking hasn't exactly gone down well with the Blues faithful, many of whom felt that the iconic midfielder should have been given more time to effect change at Stamford Bridge. However, there is little room for sentimentality when it comes to managing Chelsea, and now Tuchel will be under immense pressure to get things right and ensure that the Blues start working their way up the table.

Meanwhile, their upcoming opponents also find themselves in a rough spot. Wolves have failed to win their last six league games, with losses in four of those, and rather than pushing for a European football spot, Nuno's side find themselves sitting in the bottom half of the table. Although they did defeat Chelsea 2-1 in the reverse fixture this season, they were far from impressive in their recent FA Cup match, which saw them struggle to progress past sixth-tier side Chorley.

Moreover, Wolves have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 12 league games, which is the most of any side featuring in the Premier League this season. That includes even teams like Fulham, West Brom, and Sheffield United - who presently sit in the three relegation spots in the table.

It goes without saying that both Chelsea and Wolves will be desperate for a vital win here, and it will be very interesting to see which side is able to come out on top in what should be a very interesting showdown at Stamford Bridge.
