The Portuguese midfielder emerged as the difference maker in Sunday's blockbuster encounter.

Manchester United booked their fifth round spot in this season's FA Cup after a sensational free-kick by Bruno Fernandes dumped Liverpool out of the English cup competition. The 26-year-old Portuguese playmaker came off the bench to score the winner as the Red Devils run away with a 3-2 win at Old Trafford.

Following a drab goalless draw at Anfield in the Premier League last weekend, a goal-fest ensued in the cup game with Liverpool drawing first blood through Mohamed Salah in the 18th minute. Eight minutes later, Mason Greenwood equalised for the hosts with an assist from Marcus Rashford.

The latter subsequently put the Red Devils in front with a calm finish in the moments after play resumed for the second half before Salah emerged once more to restore parity after his side capitalised on a defensive error by the hosts in the 58th minutes.

Then came Bruno Fernandes' moment to decide the game. The former Sporting CP skipper replaced Donny van de Beek in the 66th minute, and stepped up to score a free-kick after Edinson Cavani was fouled on the edge of Liverpool's penalty area. Watch the goal below:

Manchester United advanced to the fifth round of the FA Cup as a result, while extending their unbeaten run over Liverpool at Old Trafford to eight. The Red Devils have not lost to the Merseysiders at home since March 2014.
