The Frenchman saw his two-goal haul go to waste as the Blaugrana lost Sunday's final 3-2 vs the Basque side.

Antoine Griezmann cut a frustrated figure after Sunday's disappointing Supercopa de Espana defeat to Athletic Club. The Frenchman scored twice in yesterday's game but saw his two-goal haul go to waste as the Catalan giants ended up losing the final 3-2 in extra time.

The Blaugrana ace was thus – understandably – upset after the final whistle and this showed during his post-match interview. The furious attacker could not hide his frustration with the club's defense, having twice given the Spanish giants a one-goal lead only to come out empty-handed.

Koeman's back four struggled to cope with Athletic Club, with the Basque club troubling Barcelona with their set-pieces in particular. This is an issue that has plagued the Catalan giants for many years, costing them yet another piece of silverware.

However, Griezmann took issue with more than just that, criticizing the defense for their overall lack of communication and sloppy mistakes. Speaking to Movistar, Griezmann said (as per the Daily Mail):

"I'm angry, annoyed, peeved. Every single bad feeling you can have after losing a final.

"We knew that Marcelino's side's press well and they played well, but we made so many strategic mistakes.

"We defended poorly and weren't communicating on set-pieces: important little details like when the ball is cleared or when we need to push out, someone needs to be shouting."

It was yet another display of how Barcelona have fallen from grace, disappointing on the big stage yet again. It was also a frustrating night for club captain Lionel Messi who was sent off for the first time for the Blaugrana after the Video Assistant Referee found him guilty of violent conduct in an off-ball incident.
