The start of Manchester City's FA WSL 2020-21 season did not go as planned with the team winning two games of its first five games, drawing two and losing one. Nick Cushing's departure as head coach last season did not sit well with Man City and the current man in charge, Gareth Taylor, has struggled to take the side back to where Cushing left it. Nonetheless, the Cityzens have made up their losses by going on a four-game unbeaten streak up to this point, defeating Everton and Arsenal in the process. The Sky Blues enter their clash against the Villains in fourth place with 18 points after nine games, sitting under behind Arsenal (22 points, ten games), Chelsea (23 points, nine games) and Manchester United (26 points, ten games) in the league table.
On the other hand, Aston Villa has been good so far in its first season back to topflight football despite being hit hard by COVID-19 throughout the season. The Villains had to postpone three matches due to positive cases, playing a total of eight games. Wins against Brighton & Hove Albion and Bristol City have put Aston Villa in a prime position to stay in the league. The Clarets and Blue currently sit in 11th place with four points above the Robins and only three points away from 7th place Birmingham City. Japanese forward Mana Iwabuchi is Villa's latest addition and will look to make the difference going forward on Sunday.
The game will be available to watch live on ATA Football for those watching from the U.S., Germany and Italy. Also, check the bottom of the article for other broadcast information including how to watch games in other countries around the world.
These two sides faced one another in Matchday 1 of this season and Manchester City did not have a walk on the park as expected by analysts and fans. A mere two-goal difference separated the two sides, coming from two goalkeeping mistakes that could have been avoided.
