O Clássico, Liverpool vs Man United, Inter vs Juventus headline top live games to watch on January 15-21, 2021

January 15, 2021 By Ali M.
Porto vs Benfica, Inter Milan vs Juventus, Liverpool vs Man United, Barcelona vs Athletic Club, and Juventus vs Napoli are just a few of the must-watch games to make our list.

Everything you need to watch this weekend from Man United vs Liverpool to the Spanish Super Cup final

The action in Europe's top six leagues kicks off as early as Friday, with January 15 staging two highly-anticipated games: Lazio vs Roma in Serie A at 2:45 PM ET and Porto vs Benfica at 4:00 PM ET. O Clássico is the match to watch on the eve of this weekend, as both the Dragons and the Eagles look to keep up pace with league leaders Sporting CP. Both sides boast 39 points but it is the home side that sit in second thanks to a superior goal difference. Benfica boss Jorge Jesus recently spoke about the importance of reclaiming the top spot; however, a defeat at the Estádio Do Dragão would only make things more difficult for the visitors. Tune in to Fanatiz USA and GOLTV to catch this game live.

Things go up a notch come the weekend as two of the Bundesliga's biggest teams will be in action on Saturday, with Dortmund taking on Mainz and RB Leipzig locking horns with Wolfsburg – both games are simultaneous 9:30 AM ET kick-offs. 12:30 PM ET will see Chelsea lock horns with Fulham in what should be an interesting London Derby as Lampard's men aim to rediscover their form in the league, having won only once in their last six Premier League fixtures. Leicester will also be in action later that same day – at 3:00 PM ET, to be precise – as they take on seventh-placed Southampton. The Foxes will be keen on a win in order to return to third or possibly even leapfrog Liverpool and climb into second depending on the results from their closest rivals.

Sunday will be jam-packed with mouthwatering fixtures. The likes of Napoli vs Fiorentina at 6:30 AM ET, Sheffield vs Tottenham at 9:05 AM ET, and Bayern Munich vs Freiburg at 9:30 AM ET are the appetizers, with these three interesting ties being the curtain-raiser to an exciting fixtures list.

The first box-office showdown kicks off at 11:30 AM ET and that is Liverpool vs Man United. Peacock will bring this game live to the US screens as the first-placed Red Devils will reignite their bitter rivalry with the second-placed Merseyside giants. The defending champions have failed to win any of their last three games, thus losing the lead in the title race, but they could reclaim the top spot with a victory over Solskjaer's men. Form favors Bruno Fernandes and Co, however, as they have not lost a single Premier League fixture since the 1-0 defeat to Arsenal on November 1st, winning all but two of the eleven games that followed (D2).

Manchester United, Top of the League, English Premier League

Man City take on Crystal Palace at 2:15 PM ET as the Citizens look to carry on their impressive league form. Half an hour later, the highly-anticipated Inter Milan vs Juventus clash kicks off on ESPN+, Rai Italia Nord, and Fanatiz USA. With only four points separating these two Italian giants, this fixture could be crucial in the title race, especially for the fourth-placed Bianconeri as they aim to slash the seven-point deficit on league leaders AC Milan in their title defense. The Old Lady recently beat the Rossoneri 3-1 and will want to add the Nerazzurri to their list of victims. Cristiano Ronaldo is one goal shy of becoming the all-time leading goalscorer in football history, having tied the previous record for most official goals (759) which was set by Josef Bican. This game could be the perfect stage for the five-time Ballon d'Or winner to make history in what has already been a record-breaking career.

And finally, we have the Spanish Super Cup final scheduled for 2:45 PM ET on ESPN. Having beaten Real Sociedad on penalties, Barcelona will be contesting for the title in this crucial fixture. Their opponents will be Athletic Club, with the Basque side pulling off an upset and eliminating Real Madrid in the semis. The Catalan giants were without influential captain Lionel Messi in the penultimate game but are hopeful the Argentine will be back in time for the ultimate showdown.

Juventus take on Napoli as Supercoppa Italiana headlines the top games to watch live this midweek

The action does not cease once the weekend wraps up, with several exciting fixtures also scheduled for the midweek, starting on Monday. AC Milan visit Cagliari while Arsenal host Newcastle with the intention of bouncing back from their disappointing 0-0 draw at home to Crystal Palace.

Tuesday will see crucial games in the Bundesliga and Premier League title races take place and they are Leverkusen vs Dortmund and Leicester City vs Chelsea. The German top-flight clash is the earlier of the two fixtures, kicking off at 2:30 PM ET live on ESPN+, as third-placed Die Werkself and fourth-placed BVB strive to keep up pace with league leaders Bayern Munich. A single point separates these two teams, meaning Haaland and Co. could leapfrog the hosts should they triumph. The Leicester-Chelsea showdown takes place at 3:15 PM ET and the result of this game could see either Brendan Rodgers' side or Lampard's men lose ground on the likes of Man United, Liverpool, and Man City.

Wednesday is all about the Supercoppa Italiana. Juventus will battle Napoli, the team that beat them in last season's Coppa Italia final, for the first piece of silverware up for grabs this season. While the Bianconeri were awarded a 3-0 win for their Serie A fixture earlier this season due to the Blues being unable to play as a result of COVID-19, the Italian champions have lost their last two encounters with Gattuso's men. Pirlo has been under pressure for much of this campaign, but come Wednesday, the young manager could get his hands on his first title.

If Cristiano fails to score in the Inter Milan clash, he could surpass Josef Bican's all-time goalscoring record in Wednesday's Supercoppa Italiana showdown

The 3:15 PM ET Man City vs Aston Villa tie is still on despite the Villans fighting to contain a COVID-19 outbreak in their squad while Real Madrid will also be in action on Wednesday, taking on Alcoyano in the Copa del Rey round of 32. Barcelona will also feature in this competition, with their respective clash vs Cornella commencing on Thursday at 3:00 PM.

What are the top games in Liga MX and women's soccer over the next seven days?

We are glad you asked! In the Mexican top-flight, Monterrey take on Liga MX powerhouse Club América on Matchday 2 of the Torneo Guardianes 2021. As usual, Fox Sports will bring the action live to the US screens, with this interesting fixture kicking off at 10:06 PM ET. Elsewhere, Santos Laguna and Tigres UANL, two teams that kicked off the Torneo Guardianes with three points, will lock horns on Sunday.

As for women's soccer, there will be two exciting FA Women's Super League ties taking place this weekend. The first will see Man City, who are fourth but with a game in hand, take on Aston Villa on Sunday with the aim of reducing the four-point gap on third-placed Arsenal. Later that same day, league leaders Man United will visit Chelsea in a highly-anticipated battle between first and second. Both games will be broadcast live on Fanatiz USA. Do not miss the action!
