NBC Sports Network’s broadcasts of English Premier League games in the United States kept on giving to American soccer fans as 2020 came to an end and 2021 kicked off with ten exciting matches from Tuesday, Dec. 29 through Monday, Jan. 4.

Although NBCSN was the channel that attracted the most viewers overall last week, it was NBC that screened the most-watched soccer game on US television. Surprisingly, the 3-3 draw between Brighton and Wolverhampton on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. attracted 686,000 average viewers and earned a 0.44 viewership rating. The game performed better than NBCSN’s highly anticipated Premier League matchups between Chelsea and Manchester City and Manchester United and Aston Villa.

Manchester City’s 3-1 trumping win over Chelsea at Stanford Bridge on Sunday was the second most-watched game. An average of 680,000 viewers watched the game, receiving a 0.38 rating. Manchester United’s narrow 2-1 home win over in-form Aston Villa on Friday ranked third last week with just over 600,000 people tuning into the NBCSN’s broadcast. The broadcast was given a 0.31 rating, also ranking third amongst all soccer games this weekend across all channels shown on U.S. TV. The total viewership for the ten games screened on NBCSN last week came out to 4,423,000.

BeIN Sports Español and BeIN Sport made appearances to Showbuzzdaily's top 150 cable originals and network finals. Out of the two, the Spanish speaking channel had multiple La Liga Santander broadcasts reach the top 150 lists on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. The most successful out of the five broadcasts was Barcelona’s 1-0 away win at Huesca. The screening was given a 0.06 viewership rating, attracting 136,000 average viewers. The only other broadcast that reached the 100,000 average viewers mark was Real Madrid’s 2-0 win over Celta de Vigo, which piled up 130,000. BeIN Sport’s only game that appeared on TV, which was the English language broadcast of the Real Madrid-Celta de Vigo game, registered 48,000 average viewers.

Finally, ESPN2’s broadcast of Inter Milan’s 6-2 thrashing over Crotone on Sunday was the only Serie A game to make it to the charts last week. The game was watched by 51,000 people and received a mere 0.02 viewership rating.
