Preview: Milan vs Juventus

As things stand, Milan presently enjoy a ten point lead over reigning champions Juventus. Not only that, the Rossoneri are still the only unbeaten side in the league this season. That's not something that even the most devoted Diavolo supporter could have imagined when the 2020/2021 Serie A campaign started last year, but Stefano Pioli's men have been outstanding both domestically and in continental competition, and as such, some have already started thinking that this just may be the season that Milan finally ends their long wait to get their hands on the Scudetto after over a decade.

Juventus, meanwhile, will come into this match having suffered their first loss of the campaign, and it was in rather embarrassing fashion. The Bianconeri were utterly disgraced as they succumbed to a 3-0 loss to a Fiorentina side who have been in awful form all season, and to make matters worse, it took place at the Allianz Stadium - a place that Juve had historically enjoyed a good run of form against the Viola. Moreover, prior to that shock loss, Juve were unbeaten in their last 13 Serie A games.

Although they were able to rebound by cruising to a comfortable 4-1 win over Udinese to kick off 2021, the loss to Fiorentina has put Juventus in a rather uncomfortable position ahead of their trip to the Stadio San Siro. Should they fail to win here, La Vecchia Signora will be 13 points behind Milan. Despite there being many more games to play between now and the end of the campaign, 13 points is still a huge gap to overcome, and with Juve struggling for consistency, coupled with the strong form of some of the teams ahead of them in the table, it just may be a bridge too far for the Turin giants this time around.

That being said, Juventus still do have a vital game in hand, which could prove decisive, but Andrea Pirlo is certainly not going to be heavily relying on that to bail out his side in a pinch - especially the way his former team Milan have been peforming all season.
