The Carabao Cup Final scheduled for Feb. 28, 2021, was moved to April 25 with hopes that more supporters will be able to attend Wembley.

The news came at the dawn of a new COVID-19 lockdown in large parts of south-eastern and eastern England after a new virus variant that could be up to 70 percent more transmissible began to spread in the nation's capital. As a result, the EFL decided to move its original date for the Carabao Cup Final to have as many fans as possible in the stands.

At this very moment, parts of England are labeled "Tier 4" restrictions areas. Those living in Tier 4 areas are not allowed to leave their households except for essential trips to grocery stores, hospitals or work. In other words, football fans will not be allowed in stadiums unless the government announces Tier 2 restrictions or below.

Nonetheless, the Carabao Cup quarterfinals will remain scheduled on Tuesday and Wednesday, with all four games live on Sky Sports and ESPN+. On Tuesday, Brentford will host Newcastle before current champions Manchester City travel to London to face Arsenal. On Wednesday, Tottenham will visit Stoke City and Everton will take on Manchester United at Goodison Park.
