Jamie Vardy makes history as Leicester stun Spurs

Jamie Vardy makes history as Leicester stun Tottenham Hotspur

December 20, 2020 By Emmanuel K. Budu-Annor
The Leicester City striker was on target once more as Spurs were condemned to their second Premier League defeat in a week.

Jamie Vardy landed an unorthodox Premier League record with his goal contribution in Leicester's important victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. The 33-year-old broke the deadlock in the afternoon's encounter at the Tottenham Stadium to become the first player in the competition's history to score away to one club at three different stadiums.

Following a keenly contested first 45 minutes, the game sprang to life right on the stroke of half-time with Serge Aurier barging into Wesley Fofana to gift the Foxes a penalty. Jamie Vardy subsequently stepped up to convert for his 11th goal of the season.

An own goal by Toby Alderweireld sealed the win for Leicester City as Spurs suffered their second Premier League defeat in a week, having failed to pick up points against Liverpool on Wednesday. For the Foxes, the win will particularly please Brendan Rodgers who has finally been able to defeat Jose Mourinho for the first time in eight attempts.

As far as individual achievements go, Vardy became the first player to net a goal against a specific Premier League club at three different venues. The English striker has now scored against Tottenham at White Hart Lane, Wembley and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
