The Tottenham Hotspur boss has come clean on what his final words were to the jubilant Reds' manager.

Jose Mourinho has lifted the lid on the conversation he had with Jurgen Klopp at full time after Roberto Firmino's late strike secured the maximum points for Liverpool in Wednesday's clash with Tottenham Hotspur. The Portuguese manager was spotted in brief exchange with the Reds' boss and, according to him, he only opined to his nemesis that the best team lost.

Known for being an animated pair in the technical area, both Mourinho and Klopp looked on as Mohamed Salah opened the scoring in the entertaining encounter inside the 26th minute. Moments after, the balance of the game was restored after Heung-min Son marginally escaped an offside position to score his 11th goal in 13 Premier League appearances this season.

The second-half of the encounter was not short of goalscoring opportunities, most of which fell the way of Tottenham Hotspur. However, the inefficiency of the Londoners will soon come back to bite them as the hosts will eventually steal the maximum points, thanks to Roberto Firmino's 90th-minute header. With that in the bag, Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool extended their record unbeaten run at Anfield to 66 games, equalling Jose Mourinho's record of the longest unbeaten home record in the Premier League..

Addressing the happenings in the game at full-time, Mourinho revealed that he had aimed a slight dig at Jurgen Klopp during their prior exchanges. He further expressed his dissatisfaction with the Liverpool manager's demeanour on the touchline and stated that he would be sanctioned if he acted in the same manner.

"I told him the best team lost but he disagreed," Mourinho told Amazon Prime.

"That's his opinion."

"By the way, if I behaved the way on the touchline like he does, I have no chance to stay there - and I'm out.

"That's animated? That's animated? Or do you want me to take the screen with the fourth official hands [aiming another dig at Pep Guardiola]?

"Everything is fine between us," Mourinho added later on.

"The referees let him behave the way he does. It's not my problem. I feel sad for it because I can not do it but it's just the way it is."

The night's result sees Liverpool climb to the top of the Premier League table with three points now separating them and former leaders Tottenham Hotspur.
