Preview: Sparta Praha vs Milan
Currently on top of Serie A after a fantastic campaign so far, AC Milan now will turn their attention back to European action as they travel to face Eastern European side Sparta Praha for the final matchday of their group stage Europa League campaign. The Rossoneri come into this game having beaten Sampdoria 2-1 last weekend, which now extends their winning run to ten games in the league and makes it eight wins so far this season.
Milan have already secured a spot in the round of 32, and are now simply vying with Lille for top spot in Group H. If Stefano Pioli's men beat Sparta Praha and Lille fail to somehow beat a Celtic side who have had a nightmare time in this competition, the Diavolo would finish as group winners. However, if they draw and Lille also lose, Milan will finish as runners-up due to their inferior head to head record after losing one and drawing the other against Les Dogues.
And of course, if both Milan and Lille win their respective fixtures, the standings will remain the same and Pioli's troops will just have to see who they will face in the next round as group runners-up.
Milan certainly have reason to fancy their chances here. The Rossoneri are unbeaten in their last seven meetings with their upcoming opponents, who, at this point, have nothing left to play for but pride and will be desperate to get back to winning ways after losing a local derby over the weekend. In addition, Sparta, who once had lost just two of their last 19 home European games (with 12 wins in there), saw their 15 match unbeaten streak crushed when Lille cruised to a 4-1 win recently.
Given how impressive Milan have been so far this season, coupled with their unbeaten track record against this side, the hosts could be in for a long evening on this final group stage matchday.
Team news: Sparta Praha vs Milan
Sparta Praha: Libor Kozak and Adam Hlozek are out injured for the hosts, while Ondrej Celustka and Borek Dockal are suspended.
AC Milan: With qualification already in the bag, Pioli will definitely heavily rotate his team for this match. Zlatan Ibrahimovic is expected to miss out again as he continues to recover from injury, so Ante Rebic will again lead the line. Mateo Musacchio and Rafael Leao are also both still on the treatment table.
