Tottenham Hotspur have their sight set on topping their Europa League group and a win over Antwerp should be enough to guarantee Jose Mourinho's men just that.

Match preview

Tottenham Hotspur and Royal Antwerp will go head to head inside the Tottenham Stadium with one of the pair looking to finish as the winner of Group J in this season's Europa League. With qualification assured for both sides, the former will be eager to avenge the shock defeat they were subjected to when the two sides met earlier in the campaign. A rather sluggish performance by Spurs in Belgium was eventually punished by the Jupiler Pro League outfit who go into the upcoming game with a two-point lead over the English club.

For Mourinho's men, the objective will be to replicate their fine form in recent weeks that has seen them maintain an unbeaten run in their last eight outings. The North London club, who now sit atop the Premier League table, has successfully won six of such games while drawing the remaining two. They have also flaunted their attacking prowess in the process by scoring 17 goals while keeping things tidy at the back by conceding just five.

Needless to say, they will need to be on their A-game in order to quickly put to bed any prospective upset when they receive Antwerp on Thursday night. Ivan Leko's men are yet to hit a purple patch this season but have done enough to put their capabilities into perspective. The Bosuilstadion outfit currently sit in fourth place in the Jupiter Pro League and are just six points away from table-toppers Genk.

They will go into Thursday's game with Spurs off the back of a disappointing 4-2 defeat against Genk although they had maintain an unbeaten run in the five games that preceded the weekend's loss. In the Europa League, their 2-0 win away win over LASK should provide enough motivation for them to stun Spurs for the second successive time.

Team news

Serge Aurier and Erik Lamela are expected to sit out Thursday night's encounter with respective injuries. Midfielder star Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has also been rested while Tanguy Ndombele is expected to make a return following a brief spell on the sidelines.

For Royal Antwerp, Matheus and Sander Coopman were unable to make the trip to London as a result of injuries.

Predicted starting XI

  • Tottenham Hotspur possible starting lineup: Hart; Doherty, Sanchez, Tanganga, Davies; Lo Celso, Winks; Bale, Alli, Lucas; Vinicius

  • Antwerp possible starting lineup: Butez; Seck, Gelin, De Laet; Miyoshi, Gerkens, Haroun, Hongla, Juklerod; Rafaelov, Benavente.
