The fourth official was accused of racism by the Istanbul players and staff. Here is what he appeared to have said.

Yesterday's round of UEFA Champions League fixtures was marred by a racism row during PSG's clash with Istanbul Basaksehir. The French giants hosted the Turkish side for the sixth and final group-stage Matchday but that game was unfortunately suspended after the players walked off the pitch after an incident involving assistant manager Pierre Webo and the fourth official.

Only 17 minutes had been played when this controversy occurred, with the fourth official allegedly referring to Webo by his skin color when urging the referee to send off the Cameroonian. This sparked anger from the Istanbul assistant and the entire team, with Demba Ba being at the heart of a passionate confrontation, slamming the official for saying "this black guy".

After long discussions, the Istanbul players decided to abandon the game and head to the dressing room, refusing to return to the pitch unless the fourth official was removed. PSG joined them in their protest and thus the match was suspended, with UEFA later announcing that the game would resume on Wednesday with the same lineup but a different referee.

Video has now emerged which allegedly shows the moment the fourth official referred to Webo by his skin color. This clip was posted by experienced Romanian journalist Emanuel Roşu, who has worked for the likes of the Guardian and FourFourTwo. While the footage isn't clear, the clip contains audio of what was reportedly said, with Roşu translating it from Romanian to English.

"The black one over there. Go and check who he is. The black one over there, it's not possible to act like that," is what the fourth official appears to have said in his dialogue with the main referee.

It remains uncertain what course of action UEFA will take but if what Roşu reported is true, then European football's governing body will likely sanction the referee. As for the match, it will be resumed from the 14th minute. Tuchel's men are already through to the last 16 after Man United crashed out of the competition but the Ligue 1 giants will be keen on securing the top spot with a win.
