Manchester United failed to qualify for the knockout stage of the 2020/2021 after falling to a narrow defeat in Germany on Tuesday.

Manchester United are officially out of the 2020/2021 UEFA Champions League after suffering defeat against RB Leipzig in the final Group H game on Tuesday. The Red Devils were forced to fight back from three goals down but could not manage the draw that would have taken them over the line with the game ending in 3-2.

A momentary lapse in defending followed by a series of calamitous defending by the visitors were capitalized on by the hosts with Angelino breaking the deadlock in just two minutes after kick-off. Barely 10 minutes later, Amadou Haidar got hold of a cross from the scorer of the opening goal and finished it off with aplomb to double his side's advantage.

The game could have been put to bed earlier but Will Orban goal in the 30th minute was scrapped off after the Video Assistant Referee deemed it to be offside. Nevertheless, Leipzig's third will eventually arrive in the second half with substitute Justin Kluivert capitalizing on a defensive mistake by Harry Maguire to take the scoreline to 3-0 in the 69th minute.

Known for their knack to produce comebacks in extraordinary circumstances, Manchester United attempted one such but were unable to secure the most important goal to steal a point. A Bruno Fernandes spot-kick in the 80th-minute and Paul Pogba's header in the 85th-minute only ended up being consolation goals as the Red Devils crashed out of the Champions League.

Elsewhere, the game between Paris Saint-Germain and Istanbul Basaksehir was suspended following an incident of racial abuse involving the game's fourth official and a technical team member of the Turkish club. The game has since been scheduled for Wednesday, December 9, but its outcome only has the tendency to affect who the potential winner of Group H will be with Leipzig momentarilly occupying top spot with 12 points.
