A feisty encounter awaits both RB Leipzig and Manchester United at the Red Bull Arena with qualification to the Round of 16 on the line.

Match preview

Manchester United travel to RB Leipzig on Tuesday knowing that a draw in their final Group H game will be enough to see them through to the last 16 stage of the UEFA Champions League. The Red Devils approach the game level on points with the German outfit and Paris Saint-Germain, and will progress to the knockout stages as long as they do not suffer defeat.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men come into the meeting with Leipzig on the back of a confidence-boosting win over West Ham this weekend. Having gone behind in the first half, the Red Devils turned up in style to secure a 3-1 comeback win to move just two points off top four with a game in hand. It was the third time in the last four Premier League games they have secured victory after conceding the first goal.

On the European front, the club's luck ran out in the penultimate clash with Paris Saint-Germain having entered that game needing just a draw to seal their fate. The eventual 3-1 defeat at Old Trafford blew the group wide open with all but Istanbul Basaksehir having nine points. With United thrashing Leipzig 5-0 the last time they met, a draw should be able to guarantee them safe passage and could see them top the group in the case where PSG fails to get the win against Basaksehir.

While many are expecting Manchester United to sail through as a result of their impressive recent form away from home, RB Leipzig will be poised to spoil the party for the Premier League club. Julian Nagelsmann's side will be out to take the maximum points as a draw might not be enough to secure them qualification to the last 16 stage should Paris Saint-Germain defeat Istanbul Basaksehir in the other group game.

Leipzig approach Tuesday's game on the back of an entertaining 3-3 draw with Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga on Saturday and will fancy their chances of winning against another top European club. In the Champions League, they managed to recover from their 1-0 defeat in Paris with a 4-3 win over Basaksehir last week.

Team news

RB Leipzig will be without Lukas Klostermann, Fabrice Hartmann, Konrad Laimer, Benjamin Henrichs and Hwang Hee-chan when they welcome Manchester United to the Red Bull Arena on Tuesday. For Manchester United, they will be slightly handicapped in the attacking department with both Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial ruled out of the contest as a result of injury.

The Red Devils will also be without Fred following his sending off in last week's defeat to PSG. However, Luke Shaw could potentially feature in the starting lineup after recovering from his hamstring injury. Similarly, David de Gea is in contention after being rested in the weekend's win over West Ham.
