Preview – Liverpool vs Wolves
Liverpool are gearing up for a showdown with Wolves in what promises to be a special fixture as it will see the club welcome back fans to Anfield for the first time since being crowned as champions. Klopp’s men will take on Nuno’s tricky side in Sunday’s highly-anticipated fixture, with 2,000 supporters set to cheer on the Merseyside giants.
Despite the long absence of the home support, Klopp’s men have been performing extremely well at Anfield and will look to add to their unbeaten run when Traore and Co. turn up. They head into this fixture on the back of a disappointing 1-1 draw at Brighton but have garnered respectable results as of late given their injury crisis. The defending champions have not lost any of their last six league outings but it should be noted that only three of those fixtures ended in victories (D3).
Nonetheless, Salah and Co. could return to the top of the table should they triumph. Liverpool are level on points with Tottenham and given that Spurs are gearing up for a North London Derby showdown with Arsenal, Mourinho’s men could drop points and the Reds could go two points clear at the top.
Unfortunately, their opponents boast the joint-second best defense in the league, meaning it won’t be an easy ride for the home side. Diogo Jota is in excellent form and can haunt his former side should he be given a run. Do not miss this game!
Team news
Liverpool: Caoimhin Kelleher is expected to start in goal due to Alisson’s thigh injury. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Naby Keita are back and in the run to feature, but Klopp might resist rushing them back into the lineup. Henderson and Robertson are doubts while Gomez, Van Dijk, and Thiago remain sidelined.
Wolves: Raul Jimenez will play no part in this fixture after undergoing surgery for the fractured skull he suffered in the win over Arsenal. Jonny is out with a knee injury but Romainn Saiss is back in training after recovering from COVID-19.
