The Egyptian ace was forced to sit out the weekend showdown with Leicester after testing positive for COVID-19.

Liverpool are gearing up for an interesting UEFA Champions League with Italian side Atalanta on Wednesday. The Premier League giants are on the brink of securing a spot in the last 16 and need just one more victory to qualify for the knockout stage.

With that in mind, Jurgen Klopp offered team news ahead of the midweek European game, revealing a huge update regarding star attacker Mohamed Salah. The German tactician admitted that the Egyptian talent is back in the squad and in contention to play on Wednesday.

The 28-year-old became the latest big-name player to test positive for COVID-19, contracting the virus while away from the club during the recent international break. This ruled him out of the Reds' weekend encounter with Leicester, which they won 3-0, and was expected to be out for, at the very least, the clash with Atalanta.

However, this is not the case. Salah turned in a negative result, meaning he has recovered from the virus, and has thus rejoined the squad. The manager had this to say on the matter:

Whether Salah will start or be rested is another issue. After this game, the Merseyside giants will be forced back into action at midday Saturday (UK time) to face Brighton in the Premier League, with Klopp expressing his frustrations with this scheduling. Given that Liverpool beat Atalanta 5-0 in the previous fixture, Jurgen might opt against playing is top goalscorer.
