Watch: Neuer concedes three first half goals in milestone night vs Spain

November 17, 2020 By Emmanuel K. Budu-Annor
The German goalkeeper shipped three goals in the first 45 minutes of what was a historic night for him.

Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer had a bittersweet experience when his side took on Spain in their final group game of the UEFA Nations League. The 34-year-old shot-stopper conceded three first half goals in a night in which he became his country's most-capped goalkeeper of all time.

In the night's encounter inside Estadio de La Cartuja, Neuer registered his 96th cap, surpassing Sepp Maier's record that has been in existence for over than 30 years. Nevertheless, little did the Bayern Munich star know that his big night was about to be turned upside down with the hosts hitting three goals in sublime fashion.

It was Alvaro Morata who opened the scoring by turning Ferran Torres' cross into the net in the 17th minute. 16 minutes later, the Manchester City attacker found himself on the scoresheet, smashing home a rebound after Dani Olmo's effort had hit the post.

With seven minutes left of the first half to play, Rodri added to Germany's misery by leaping high to redirect Fabian Ruiz's outswinger into the net.
