The identity of the man that will replace Josep Maria Bartomeu will be known in the early days of 2021.

It has been quite a complicated year for Barcelona fans and execs, and unfortunately for the club, the ongoing process to rebuild the squad has forced the Catalan club to end 2020 without a president.

The good news for those who love the Blaugrana jersey is that the date for the presidential elections has been set by the acting presidential board. With only details to be sorted out between the club and Catalan health authorities, the date when the voting will be held has been set to January 24, 2021.

The reason to choose this date has to do with the first team's transfer activity. The man chosen as president and his board may still have time to sign players in the winter transfer window, hoping that the team's balance sheets allow the club to hire footballers during those last seven days.

Right now, there are seven candidates for Barcelona's hot-seat. Jordi Farré and Victor Font have been the most outspoken in the past months, but names such as Xavi Vilajoana, Toni Freixa, Agustí Benedito, Pere Riera, and Lluís Fernández Alá could have a chance to lead one of the most controversial and popular teams in the world.
