Liverpool will hope to end their frustrating away record against Italian sides when they travel to face a very hopeful Atalanta side on Tuesday, November 3rd.

Preview: Atalanta vs Liverpool

Liverpool come into this match having won four of their last five games across all comps, and that includes picking up six points so far from this season's Champions League. Although the Reds are not the highest scoring side in their quartet, they have yet to concede a goal so far, but Klopp has a long-standing frustrating record when it comes to playing in Italy. Five trips, five defeats. In fact, only Sir Alex Ferguson has lost more times in Italy (six) than the German tactician, and it's been under Klopp's tenure that Liverpool have lost their three away European ties to Italy.

That's naturally something they will want to end on Tuesday, as in the past, Klopp has lost to big sides like Napoli, Juventus, and Roma. Atalanta, however, aren't really at that level, but La Dea are a very determined side and have been pushing to be included in that bracket for the past few seasons thanks to some high-placed finishes in Serie A.

Last season saw them qualify for their first ever Champions League campaign (after finishing third) and Gian Piero Gasperini's men did impress by making it to the quarter-finals. They also were very keen on showing that their success was not just a random fluke by finishing third again in Serie A which thus qualified them for another spot in this season's edition of the Champions League, and so far, they've done solidly enough with a win and a draw enough to see them sitting in second spot, just two points behind Liverpool.

Not surprisingly, Atalanta, who were the highest scoring side in last season's Serie A campaign, are now the highest scoring side in their quartet with six goals, and only rank behind Manchester United (seven) and Barcelona (seven) in terms of most goals netted over the first two rounds. Bayern Munich and Manchester City have also scored six times, and while Atalanta have conceded twice - one more than die Roten and the Sky Blues - it's not a bad output considering that no one would say they're as strong a team as the Bavarian titans or the English giants.

La Dea, who presently sit in fourth in Serie A after ending their two game losing streak are now four points behind league leaders AC Milan, while Liverpool have returned to the league summit after surprise leaders Everton have now started to crumble following a bright start.

Team news: Atalanta vs Liverpool

Atalanta: Rafael Toloi, Cristian Romero and Hans Hateboer are all out for the hosts.

Liverpool: Champions League winner Thiago Alcantara is a doubt ahead of this match, but both Diogo Jota and Xherdan Shaqiri are hoping to be involved in this match. Naby Keita has finally returned to the team after missing the last few weeks, and Joel Matip could return after also missing a few games due to injury following his return to training. However, veteran defender Virgil van Dijk, as well as Fabinho are both still out injured.
