Real Madrid make UCL history with late draw

Real Madrid make UCL history after late 2-2 draw vs Mönchengladbach

October 27, 2020 By Oscar Rojas
Goals by Benzema and Casemiro salvaged a point for Real Madrid at Borussia Park, in what has been a disappointing start of the European season for Los Blancos.

Real Madrid may not have had the best start for their UEFA Champions League campaign, but they have managed to earn one more record for themselves after their come-from-behind draw against Borussia Mönchengladbach.

A brace by Marcus Thuram before the 60-minute mark had given the German side a good lead against Los Blancos, who were forced to introduce all of their substitutions before the end of the game trying to shift the tide. Fortunately for the Spanish cause, Karim Benzema and Casemiro found the back of the net in the dying minutes of the game to claim what some could think of as an epic comeback.

Real Madrid's history is full of last-minute comebacks, but none of them had taken place such as this one, according to stats' specialist Mister Chip.

"BOR 2-2 RMA (FT) - Miracle at Borussia Park. It is the first time ever in which Real Madrid got to the 87th minute losing by a two-goal margin away from home and the score ends in a draw."

One of the key men for this comeback was holding midfielder Casemiro, as he had a hand in both of Real Madrid's goals this evening. That in itself also represents a milestone for the Brazilian footballer.
