Atletico match unwanted feat after conceding twice

Atletico Madrid match unwanted feat as Bayern Munich hit first half double

October 21, 2020 By Emmanuel K. Budu-Annor
Diego Simeone's men were caught napping in Wednesday's clash and were made to pay for it.

Atletico Madrid found themselves chasing a comeback in their Champions League opening encounter with Bayern Munich on Wednesday. Los Colchoneros conceded twice in the first half of proceedings to match an unwanted feat that was actualized six years ago.

The game had life breathe into it inside the 28th-minute after Kingsley Coman broke free and converted an in-field pass from Joshua Kimmich. 13 minutes later, the Frenchman was involved in the mix once more; this time setting up Leon Goretzka to doubled Bayern's advantage.

The winger broke into the box down the left, and then cut back in on his right to lay the ball off to Goretzka in space. The German midfielder then controlled the ball with his chest and smashed the ball into the bottom left corner.

The scoreline meant that Atletico Madrid, for the first time since 2014, conceded two goals in a first half of a Champions League game. The last time it happened, Simeone's men went on to lose 3-2 to Olympiacos.
