The English striker was the hero at Parc des Princes once more as Manchester United began this season's European campaign with a massive win.

For the second time in succession, Manchester United have defied the odds to overpower Paris Saint-Germain in their own backyard. A Red Devils put on a remarkable show in Tuesday's UEFA Champions League group stage opener to clinch three vital points through a deserving 2-1 scoreline.

A different tale could have been scripted early on had it not been for the heroics of David de Gea to deny the host the opportunity to take a two-goal lead. This was shortly followed with a fight back by Manchester United, successfully grabbing the lead thanks to Bruno Fernandes' 23rd minute spot kick.

An own-goal by Anthony Martial in the early minutes of the second half blew the game wide open but a dominant defensive display by the visitors denied PSG the opportunity to go in front for the first time. While both teams had other chances to ensure the fulfilment of this, it was Manchester United who utilized theirs to full capacity.

For the second successive meeting, Marcus Rashford emerged as the hero of the day as his 87th-minute strike was enough to take Ole Gunnar Soskjaer and his men to the promised land. Watch the goal below:

In retrospect, Manchester United became the first team-ever in the history of the Champions League to win twice on the bounce at the home grounds of Paris Saint-Germain. In addition, Solskjær became the first manager to beat the Ligue 1 outfit at Parc des Princes in the Champions League group stage since 2004.
