The past weekend was a warmup for USMNT stars in some of Europe’s top teams as they prepare for a very eventful week, including UEFA Champions League and league action.

Last week was a quiet one for young American stars in Europe, but it was a buildup for what is to come in this brand-new week. If you did not know, the UEFA Champions League is back this week. In other words, you will get to see Christian Pulisic, Gio Reyna, Tyler Adams and Sergiño Dest all in action in the world's most prestigious club competition. And to top it all off, the players previously named and other USMNT big names will close-out the week playing games in their respected European leagues.

Christian Pulisic – Chelsea

Captain America is back! Christian Pulisic started for Chelsea on the right-wing and played 87 minutes on Sunday. Despite not being directly involved in any of Chelsea's three goals, Pulisic provided a moment of brilliance that led to The Blues' third goal of the match.

Southampton went on to score an equalizer on aggregate time, but by that time Chelsea's number 10 was already on the bench. Yes, the German internationals Timo Werner and Kai Havertz were the names on the scoresheet at the end of the game, but they could not have done it without the engine in Pulisic.

Chelsea is set to play their opening 2020/21 UEFA Champions League game against Sevilla at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday at 3 p.m. ET. And on Saturday, Chelsea will face Manchester United in a Premier League match at Old Trafford. Manager Frank Lampard might be hesitant to start Pulisic in both matches given that he is coming back from an ongoing hamstring injury.

Giovanni Reyna – Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund's Giovanni Reyna spoke to NBC Sports about Americans playing in Europe and it is safe to say that he feels the same way as all USMNT fans feel about the subject.

"I think it's so exciting for all of us to have so many Americans, even if we're not all playing, in a good environment day in and day out. There are guys at Barca, guys at Juventus, guys here in Germany and of course Christian in London. There are so many guys with the best players in the world, learning every day and it's still a young core group. I know we're all really excited and hungry to get together, finally put all the pieces together and see what we can do," said Reyna in an interview with NBC Sports last Thursday.

"The American Dream", as his teammate and beloved friend Erling Haaland calls Reyna, was the only forward to play the full 90 minutes in Dortmund's 1-0 win over Hoffenheim on Saturday. It felt weird not to see the 17-year-old score or assists given his record so far this season. Nonetheless, he was a key player in the match.

Dortmund will take on Lazio on Tuesday at 3 p.m. ET to kick off their 2020/21 UEFA Champions League campaign. And on Saturday, Dortmund will face rivals Schalke in the Bundesliga. These two games are great chances for Reyna to show his skill, especially against teams that are going through rough times.

Tyler Adams – RB Leipzig

Swiss army knife Tyler Adams played a central midfield role for 90 minutes in Red Bulls Leipzig's 2-0 away win over Augsburg on Saturday.

The 21-year-old missed the previous Bundesliga encounter against Schalke as he recovered from a slight injury. Moreover, Adams is back and in full gear as he completed his fifth full game out of five this season. It is clear that the New York native has gained the trust of manager Julian Nagelsmann ever since that UEFA Champions League quarter-final game-winner against Atletico Madrid.

RB Leipzig will face Turkish side Istanbul Basaksehir on Tuesday at 3 p.m. ET and Hertha Berlin on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. ET.

Sergiño Dest – Barcelona

Left-back Sergiño Dest did not have his dream Barcelona full-game debut, losing to Getafe 1-0. However, he was close to getting his first assist on two occasions. On the first, he passed the ball to Messi who struck the ball and hit the upright. On the second, Dest crossed a ball that came off a Getafe defender and hit the crossbar in the 96th minute.

Antonee Robinson – Fulham

Dedicated U.S. Men's National Team fans woke up early on Saturday to watch left-back Antonee Robinson as Fulham took on Sheffield United. Robinson was nearly five minutes away from helping The Lilywhites to their first clean sheet and win of the season, but the Blades converted a penalty to equalize. All in all, the 23-year-old full-back has secured a starting position and is looking up to par in the Premier League.

Josh Sargent – Werder Bremen

Striker Josh Sargent played the entirety of a 1-1 draw against SC Freiburg on Saturday. The 20-year-old is still looking for his first Bundesliga goal of the season after four appearances.

Matt Miazga – RSC Anderlecht

Chelsea's Matt Miazga was loaned-out for the fifth time in five years to Belgian side Anderlecht earlier this month. On Sunday, he had his Jupiler Pro League debut, which ended in a 2-2 draw with OH Leuven. The 25-year-old center back played the entirety of the games.

Reggie Cannon – Boavista

Right-back Reggie Cannon played a full-90 in a 1-0 loss on Monday afternoon. Boavista finds itself in 17th position, which is in the relegation zone in the Portuguese league.

Christian Cappis – Hobro IK

Central midfielder Christian Cappis played 60 minutes with Hobro IK Reserves in a 3-0 loss to ACH Reserves on Tuesday, Oct. 13. However, the 21-year-old Texas native registered 87 minutes of a 3-1 win over HB Koge in Denmark's second division, Nordicbet Liga, on Saturday.

Timothy Weah – Lille OSC

Forward Timothy Weah's frustrating stint at Lille continued this weekend. Weah was an unused substitute in Lille's 4-0 win over newly-promoted side Lens after only playing one minute in Lille's previous match. The 20-year-old has played a total of 30 minutes in five league games.

Weston McKennie – Juventus

Weston McKennie's midfield presence was missed by Andrea Pirlo's side on Saturday. Juventus drew on the road to Crotone while McKennie and Cristiano Ronaldo recover from COVID-19.

Zach Steffen – Manchester City

Manchester City's second-choice goalkeeper Zach Steffen did not play this weekend as Ederson is fit to play. Steffen will start for Man City if Ederson picks up another injury. If not, he will be set to start on Dec. 22 in the EFL Cup quarter-finals against Arsenal.

Chris Richards – Bayern Munich

Center-back Chris Richards was not in manager Hans-Dieter Flick's squad on Saturday. However, Richards is in the official Bayern Munich squad list for the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League. Bayern is set to play Atletico Madrid on Wednesday at 3 p.m. ET.

Ulysses Llanez – SC Heerenveen

Nineteen-year-old Ulysses Llanez did not feature in Heerenveen's 5-1 loss to Eredivisie giants Ajax after playing his first 23 minutes for the club in the previous match.

Konrad de la Fuente – Barcelona

Teenager Konrad de la Fuente did not travel to Getafe in Barcelona's 1-0 loss on Saturday. The 19-year-old forward from Miami, Fla. was in Ronald Koeman's squad list before the international break.

Tyler Boyd – Besiktas

Besiktas has been on a break for about two weeks, playing one friendly in the meantime on Sunday, Oct. 11. Forward Tyler Boyd did was not on the team-sheet for that game but did feature for Besiktas as a starter in their last league game on Oct. 4 in a 1-0 home loss to Genclerbirligi. Besiktas is scheduled to play Denizlispor on Monday, Oct. 26.
