Today's Merseyside Derby was one of the most exciting clashes between Everton and Liverpool in recent years. Both teams scored two goals each en route to a 2-2 draw in what was an action-packed 90 minutes of football.
Sadio Mane opened the scoring early on in the game, finishing a great team move to hand Klopp's side the lead. In the 19th minute, the Toffees pulled level, with Keane smashing in a header after a lovely cross from James Rodriguez. Things remained like this until the 72nd minute when a magical strike from Mohamed Salah put the Reds back in driving seat.
However, the lead did not last long. Nine minutes later, in-form striker Calvert-Lewin scored an equalizer to set up an intense final minutes. Richarlison got sent for a late tackle on Thiago, leaving fans on the edge of their seats as 10-man Everton were made to fight for a point.
But given all the action, how did VAR steal the show? In typical fashion, the technology was called into action in stoppage time after Jordan Henderson put the ball past Pickford in what appeared to be the winning goal. Unfortunately for the defending champions, their celebrations did not last long as Sadio Mane, the man who set up Henderson, was deemed by VAR.
However, controversy immediately erupted after the still image used to rule out the strike was displayed for all. Fans and pundits alike were all left flabbergasted as to how the Senegalese superstar was deemed to be offside. Check out the best tweets below.

The picture I saw, it was not offside. So maybe someone can explain it to me.
What excuse will the officials come up with this time for their use of #VAR?

In should be noted that VAR was already under heavy criticism for failing to take a look at an early incident involving Virgil van Dijk and Jordan Pickford. The Dutchman was at the end of a threatening cross but was caught by a knee-high scissor-type tackle from the Everton goalkeeper. VAR stepped in to check whether Van Dijk was offside or not as a penalty would have been awarded – he was offside – but the challenge from Pickford was not even reviewed.

Should Jordan Pickford still be on the pitch?
