Premier League: How to watch Newcastle vs Manchester United live on October 17, 2020

October 16, 2020 By Emmanuel K. Budu-Annor
A tricky test awaits the Red Devils at the St James' Park on Saturday as they look to bounce back from their humiliation against Spurs in their last outing.

Match preview

Manchester United return to Premier League action with an away trip to the St James' Park where Steve Bruce's Newcastle outfit will be waiting. The Red Devils will be out to get a facelift after crashing to a humiliating defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the last game before the international break.

Right in their own backyard, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side conceded six goals in what was Jose Mourinho's return to Old Trafford and only managed to answer with a consolation from the penalty spot. The morale in camp has taken a massive hit as a result but United are hoping to turn their fortunes around and get back to winning ways as soon as possible.

It has been a bumpy ride for the 13-time Premier League winners who have only managed a win from three league appearances this season. Although it is still early days yet, the Red Devils now have a six goal deficit to take care of, having scored only five after conceding 11 within the period.

Trips to the St James' Park often come with interesting twists but with Solskjaer's job purportedly on the line, he will hope that his men will finally turn up. They will take on a Newcastle team that has enjoyed a better spell as far as the early days of the 2020/2021 Premier League season is concerned. T

he Magpies began the season with a 2-0 away win over West Ham but slumped to a 3-0 hammering against Brighton in their subsequent outing. This was followed by a 1-1 draw at Tottenham that was sealed via a controversial late penalty and, finally, a 3-1 home win over Burnley.

The spirit in camp is great for Newcastle and, as such, they will aim at capitalising on the unrest that seemingly exists in the Manchester United camp on Saturday. A win for Bruce's men will condemn the Red Devils to their third defeat in their opening four games - the first for the club since the 1986-87 season.

Meanwhile, skipper Jamaal Lascelles will make a return to the starting lineup after missing the last two games with a hamstring problem. Fabian Schar is also ready for contention following his recovery from a shoulder injury.

For Manchester United, Axel Tuanzebe, Phil Jones, Sergio Romero and new boy Facundo Pellistri are all ruled out due to the lack of match fitness. Edinson Cavani is expected to miss out as he remains in isolation after arriving this summer while his fellow striker Anthony Martial is suspended.
