U.S. Women’s National Team stars Alex Morgan, Sam Mewis, Rose Lavelle, Tobin Heath and Christen Press continue to acclimate in England on their journeys to take over the FA Women’s Super League.

Three Barclays FA Women’s Super League games on Matchday 4 were screened by NBC Sports Network (NBCSN) last weekend, including Manchester United visiting Tottenham and Chelsea hosting Manchester City. The hype leading up to the weekend where Alex Morgan, Sam Mewis, Rose Lavelle, Tobin Heath and Christen Press were all set to play in front of USWNT fans did not pan-out as many hoped it would. Let us recap what happened with USWNT stars in English competitions last week.

Tobin Heath – Manchester United

Heath dished-out her second assist of the 2020-21 FA WSL campaign in Manchester United’s 1-0 away win over Tottenham Hotspur. The assist came from an in-swinging cross from a corner that met center-back Millie Turner’s head at the back post. The goal allowed the Red Devils to collect three points away from home and keep them in the race for the FA WSL title with 10 points after four matches.

The American forward has proved to be one of, if not, Manchester United’s most prolific crosser of the ball so far this season. She proved to be deadly with her crosses by providing an exquisite assist in her first start for the Red Devils two weekends ago in a 3-0 win over Brighton. Heath’s ambidextrous ability adds to her dynamic when it comes to swinging a ball into the box.

Sam Mewis – Manchester City

Manchester City dropped points for the second time this season after just four games. This time, they lost to FA WSL champions Chelsea 3-1 on Sunday.

Mewis has been an important piece for the Citizens so far this season. She scored against Arsenal in the Women's FA Cup semifinal to win 2-1 two weeks ago and followed up with another goal against Tottenham on Matchday 3 to help Man City to a 4-1 win. However, the post denied Mewis of her triple against London clubs on Sunday when facing Chelsea.

Rose Lavelle – Manchester City

Lavelle had a good start to her week, scoring against Everton in Matchday 1 of the FA Women's League Cup group stage. The American midfielder equalized from a set-piece, attacking the cross at the first post and flicking it past the goalkeeper.

Despite scoring her first goal wearing sky blue, Lavelle was not named Man City’s starting 11 on Sunday. She played for half an hour after coming in for forward Ellen White in the 60th minute.

Christen Press – Manchester United

Press has yet to find her groove in England. She has played a total of 107 minutes over three games – two FA WSL and one FA WSL Cup – only starting against Tottenham on Sunday.

The competition amongst Manchester United attacking players is intense. Attacking midfielders Kirsty Hanson and Ella Toone each have two goals and one assist, while forward Jane Ross has two goals. Add Heath’s two assists to the equation and it is hard to find a spot for Press in the squad, but manager Casey Stoney has done a good job with her rotations, which have allowed her to use every player at her disposal.

Alex Morgan – Tottenham Hotspur

Morgan was set on making the 18-player roster and even make her first appearance from the bench against Manchester United on Saturday morning. But coaches Karen Hills and Juan Amoros decided that she was not fit enough yet.

This came as disappointing news for Spurs and U.S. fans who were excited to watch Morgan play her first minutes in England. Morgan expressed that she felt ready in a mid-week
