The Bavarians were dealt their first-ever loss since December last year.

Hoffenheim ended Bayern's record-breaking 23-game winning streak across all competitions with a massive win on Sunday. Die Kraichgauer staged a remarkable performance to run away with a 4-1 home win over the current title holders.

Bayern Munich entered the afternoon's encounter on the back of a UEFA Super Cup triumph over Sevilla which took their trophy count for the year to four. For the first time in a long time, Die Roten lined up without Robert Lewandowski leading the attack, handing the mandate to young Joshua Zirkzee.

However, their day took an unexpected turn with their hosts hitting two goals inside the first 24 minutes of the encounter. Ermin Bičakčić grabbed the opener in the 16th minute before Munas Dabbur doubled the advantage eight minutes later. Joshua Kimmich offered Hansi Flick's side a lifeline with a goal in the 54th minute that will eventually prove to be a consolation as Hoffenheim will close shop and add two more via Andrej Kramarić in the 77th and 92nd minutes respectively.

In effect, Sebastian Hoeneß's men brought to an end a 32-game unbeaten streak that stretches as far back as December 2019. The last 23 games in the run all resulted in wins for Bayern Munich.
