Chelsea new boy Kai Havertz has ended his goal drought for the Blues by scoring a hat-trick against Barnsley on Wednesday. The 21-year-old run away with the matchball for the first time in his senior career as the Blues secured an emphatic 6-0 win over the Championship side in the Carabao Cup third round clash.
After struggling to influence proceedings in his first two Premier League appearance against Brighton and Manchester City, the £72million attacker made a huge statement with his performance against the Tykes. Having been deployed in his prefered No.10 role by Frank Lampard, the former Leverkusen man opened his account in the 28th minute after Tammy Abraham had scored the game’s opener earlier.
Chelsea were subsequently put three goals ahead by Ross Barkley in the 49th minute before Havertz was called upon again to net yet another in the 55th minute - firing home a low shot after benefitting off a dummy run by Abraham. 10 minutes later, the German starlet sealed off a starling performance by racing all the way to get on a through pass from Ben Chilwell and put his third past the Barnsley goalkeeper. Olivier Giroud then applied the finishing gloss in the 83rd minute after coming off the bench.

In essence, Havertz's hat-trick against Barnsley was his first in what was his 153rd senior appearance for Bayer Leverkusen and Chelsea. Relatively, the day’s win meant that the Blues could be involved in a potential fourth round clash with Tottenham Hotspur. Here is how some fans reacted to Havertz’s feat:

Kai Havertz with a hatrick tonight playing as the #10, granted the opponent is a lower level, you could still see his intelligence on and off the ball and the ridiculous finishing, once he settles in the prem he is going to be so good for us. pic.twitter.com/doZU6TnD7o

They say Havertz scored a hattrick against farmers. How many hattricks does Rasford have when he plays against "farmers"?? Need an answer

We saw the first of a VERY dangerous partnership with Havertz and Abraham tonight. Scary how insync they were!

If anyone’s trying to take out the shine from Havertz getting a hat trick and assist because it’s Barnsley, they would’ve slated him if he didn’t perform regardless.

Ask them if any of their new signings from even last season got a hat trick, likely answer is no.
Fun fact:

Kai Havertz has scored more goals in this game than Paul Pogba has scored in the last 17 months.
