All the records set as Bayern seal sixth UCL title

All the records set as Bayern Munich seal sixth UEFA Champions League title with PSG win

August 23, 2020 By Emmanuel K. Budu-Annor
Kingsley Coman's lone-goal was enough to fire the Bavarians to the promise land against the Parisians.

The UEFA Champions League campaign has come to an official end. After crushing the likes of Chelsea, Barcelona, and Lyon; Bayern Munich added PSG to their list of victims, beating the French giants in Sunday's final to be crowned the 2019/20 champions.

Unlike their previous opponents, the German heavyweights found it harder tearing down Neymar and Co. Regardless, the Bavarians are relentless and relentless, they were, with Kingsley Coman breaking the deadlock in the 59th minute in what turned out to be the winning goal.

The Germans thus came away with their sixth Champions League title. However, that was not their only achievement in the Lisbon victory. Here are all the standout feats accomplished by Bayern Munich with their 1-0 win over PSG.

First Champions League winners with a 100% record

When we said Bayern were rampant, we meant it. Victory in Sunday's final means Flick's side finished the European season not only as champions, but as the first champions with a 100 percent record, winning every single game this season. From Matchday 1 of the group stage to the ultimate game in Lisbon, all that stood in die Roten's way were demolished.

A second treble – Bayern joins Europe's elite

Having won the Bundesliga and DFB Pokal, Bayern Munich pulled off the treble with the weekend victory. This is the second time they have managed this feat, first achieving this in 2013. The German giants thus join Barcelona as the only European club to win the treble twice.

The 500–goal mark

The Bavarians were only able to net one goal despite having scored a combined 11 goals in the previous two rounds. Nonetheless, that was enough to win them the title and earn them a spot in the 500-goal group. That was the Germans 500th strike in this competition, making them only the third club to reach this feat in the Champions League, following in the footsteps of Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Alphonso Davies – the kid who won our hearts has now made it into the record books

We admit, this is not a club record for Bayern Munich. However, this is a feat achieved by one of their players so it makes this list. Alphonso Davies, a kid who was born in a refugee camp and fled to Canada at the age of 5 due to the Liberian civil war, started on Sunday and helped his side lift the trophy. He thus became the first Canadian to win the Champions League in what has been an amazing rise for the 19-year-old.

Former club Vancouver Whitecaps posted this tribute to Alphonso Davies
