Meanwhile, Lyon, who finished in seventh in Ligue 1 and as runners-up in the Coupe de la Ligue, pulled off a stunning win against Serie A champions Juventus over two legs to book their spot at this juncture. Although they only picked up eight points during the group stages, Rudi Garcia's men were buoyed by their unbeaten home record and now are just a match away from potentially reaching the final four. However, they've only won two of their last five matches across all comps. Still, the French side have a good record against City; in this nascent rivalry, they have yet to lose, with one draw and one victory to date.

Of course, that record will certainly change after Saturday's meeting. The question is as to whether Lyon will be able to maintain their unbeaten run and go on to the final four, where they will join fellow Ligue 1 side PSG and set up a clash with a rampaging Bayern, or whether City will earn their first victory over Les Gones and fly the flag for England in the semi-finals as Guardiola takes on his former team.
