Juve make contact with Sarri replacement

Juve contact highly-rated former EPL boss to replace Sarri after UCL exit

August 8, 2020 By Ali M.
The Bianconeri are said to be in the hunt for Sarri's replacement after crashing out of Europe at the hands of Lyon.

After Juventus' dreadful Champions League exit, rumors of Maurizio Sarri's sacking was inevitable. The Italian coach oversaw yet another shambolic display from the Italian champions as they crashed out on the away-goal rule at the hands of Lyon despite beating them 2-1 on Friday.

Even a lively Cristiano Ronaldo could not spare them the blushes and the Bianconeri are said to already be on the hunt for Sarri's successor. According to SportItalia, as per Football Italia, the Old Lady have already made contact with their ideal candidate.

That man is none other than Mauricio Pochettino, the highly-rated former Tottenham tactician. The Argentine is on the radar of several top European clubs, one of whom is said to be Barcelona, but the Serie A champions have already reached out to the out-of-work gaffer.

The Italians inquired as to whether he will be open to replacing under-fire Sarri. It remains uncertain whether Pochettino is keen on moving to Turin but he has flirted with the idea of managing Juventus in the past.

According to the rumors, however, the Argentine is not Andrea Agnelli first choice as the club president reportedly has his eyes on Zinedine Zidane. Unfortunately, the Frenchman is settled at Real Madrid and is unlikely to leave Santiago Bernabeu the summer after winning the league.

Additionally, Simone Inzaghi is also said to be on their radar. However, as is the case with Zidane, the Lazio boss is unlikely to jump ships after guiding the Eagles back into the UEFA Champions League.

One thing does appear certain and it's the fact that Sarri's days in Turin are numbered. While controversial refereeing worked against Juventus, there is no ignoring the fact that Juventus have been poor under their current boss. The Bianconeri, despite winning the Scudetto, failed to obliterate their domestic rivals in the league as they did before. With the fans turning on Sarri after their UCL round of 16 exit, it won't be long until the board follow suit.
