UEFA Europa League: How and where to watch Manchester United vs LASK live on August 5, 2020

August 4, 2020 By Emmanuel K. Budu-Annor
The Red Devils will look to wrap up their qualification to the quarter-finals when. they welcome their Austrian opponents to Old Trafford.

Match Preview

Manchester United will welcome LASK to Old Trafford on Wednesday as they finally advance to the quarter-finals of this season's Europa League. The Red Devils are in pole position to progress after beating the Austrians 5-0 in the first leg back in March.

Another exhilarating performance is expected from the Red Devils who are aiming to conclude their season with a silverware following their third-place finish in the just ended Premier League campaign. With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer highlighting the desire in the side to clinch the title, nothing short of a five-star performance is expected from the Reds who, per the new regulations of the competition, are literarily three wins away from the final.

Not many teams would fancy meeting this Manchester United side at the moment considering how ruthless they have been for the most part of the period that followed the coronavirus hiatus. Up until the FA Cup semi-final defeat to Chelsea, the Old Trafford outfit was on a remarkable 19-game unbeaten run. They have also conceded as little as possible while being extremely efficient in attack.

In the Europa League this season, Solskjaer's men remain unbeaten, registering five wins, one draw and a defeat in seven outings. While LASK may boast similar numbers, it will take an actual football miracle for the Austrians to knock the Red Devils off their perch.

Aside conceding five times without any response, a poor run of form in recent weeks put the visitors at a huge disadvantage. Since the restart of the season, they have recorded just three wins out of 10 competitive games. Only one of the matches ended in a draw while the remaining five were defeats.

The poor run-in by the club resulted in the sack of head coach Valerien Ismael and the appointment of new boss Dominik Thalhammer. Needless to say, as to as to whether the latter can change the fortunes of the The Black-Whites in Europe remains to be seen.

Team news

Aside Axel Tuanzebe and Phil Jones, Manchester United have no fresh injury concerns and should have all their key men available for selection. However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is expected to field the second-string and hand the usual starters the chance to rest for the remainder of the knockout phase games. Relatively, LASK have no injury concerns and should field their strongest set-up against the Red Devils on Wednesday.
