Outspoken Dutch legend Johan Cruyff has tipped Lionel Messi to engrave his name on the rock of football’s greats. Messi is preparing to help Barcelona win El Clasico against Real Madrid this weekend.

Lionel Messi admirers are anxiously waiting to see what the Argentine will make of Barcelona’s upcoming clashes against their greatest rivals.

El Clasico is coming up soon in La Liga whereas the 2011 Copa del Rey final, Barcelona vs Real Madrid, is set to kick-off on Wednesday. There’s also a Real Madrid-Barcelona tie in the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League at stake. Messi traditionally doesn’t disappoint his fans when Barca affront the Spanish giants and he is once again expected to leave his mark on the upcoming rivalry battles.

 

The FIFA Ballon d’Or titleholder is one of the many Blaugrana stars to have grown as a professional with the club’s famous youth system, La Masia. Johan Cruyff now insists that it’s just a matter of time before Lionel Messi’s name becomes unforgettable. In a phone interview conducted by the Associated Press, the Dutch man affirmed:

“Yes he’s on his way. He has just played 4 years or something like that [in Barcelona’s first team squad] and the others there have played at least 14 years.

Messi has got 10 more years to go with the same amount of quality. Hopefully, he has the same amount “of success too.”
