The French side's worst fears were confirmed earlier today, as Kylian Mbappé has been ruled out of the game against Atalanta.

The worst fears have been confirmed for PSG, as Kylian Mbappé will not be around to help them beat Atalanta in their single-match tie in the UEFA Champions League.

Les Parisiens had admitted that Mbappé would undergo further tests on his ankle after a nasty tackle by Loic Perrin in last weekend's cup clash. Unfortunately for them, the outcome of the tests on Mbappé has ruled the player out of the match and possibly for the entire duration of the tournament.

"As announced after the final of the Coupe de France against Saint-Étienne, Kylian Mbappé underwent further examinations to his injured right ankle. The results of today's scan confirmed an ankle sprain with damage to the external ligament. The player is expected to be sidelined for approximately three weeks," the team stated in a press release.

Mbappé had cemented his spot as the team's top scorer in the competition along with Mauro Icardi, with both strikers finding the back of the net five times.

Les Parisiens seemed to have a legitimate chance of reaching the final of the competition after being placed on the same side of the bracket as Atlético Madrid, Atalanta, and RB Leipzig. Now, the French side will have to figure out a way to substitute Mbappé's skills for the toughest games of the campaign.
