What has been Benfica and Porto's form in all comps prior to this game?

Benfica makes it to the game on a three-game winning streak. In fact, the Eagles have won four out of their last five, with the only exception being their one-all draw against Famalicao. Benfica's last loss took place one month ago, when Marítimo defeated them 2-0.

Porto saw the impressive streak they put up to win the Primeira Liga title coming to an end last weekend, when they lost 2-1 to Braga. Before that game, the Dragons had six straight to take the top of the league, but their run was over after their title celebrations.

How did Benfica and Porto get to this stage of the this stage of the Taça de Portugal?

Benfica made it to the title clash by winning their first two games in the competition away from home. The first one ended in a 4-0 victory against Cova da Piedade, while the fourth round clash saw them claim a 2-1 win over Vizela. Their next rival in the competition was Braga, a team which they eliminated with a 2-1 score. Next up was Rio Ave in the quarterfinals, where the exciting match concluded with a 3-2 score. The semi-final tie for the Eagles saw them facing Primeira Liga sensation Famalicao, which they defeated thanks to a 4-3 aggregate.

Porto had an easier way through to the final, as they kept clean sheets in their first three matches of the tournament against SC Coimbroes (5-0), Vitoria de Setúbal (4-0), and Santa Clara (1-0). Their quarterfinal match ended in a 2-1 win against Varzim, and their semi-final tie concluded with a 4-1 aggregate while facing Académico de Viseu.

The game is set to take place at Estadio Cidade de Coimbra, breaking the Taça de Portugal tradition to have it played at Estadio Nacional.This decision was made after Portuguese football execs decided to play the game behind closed doors.

Benfica is the most successful team in Taça de Portugal history, having won the tournament 26 times. The red and white side claimed the Portuguese cup title for the last time in 2017, when they defeated Vitoria Guimaraes 2-1. Benfica has also lost ten cup finals over the years, with the last one of those coming in 2013, precisely against Vitoria Guimaraes.

On the other side of the pitch, Porto is the third most successful team in the history of this competition, having taken the trophy home on 16 different occasions. The last successful trip to the Taça de Portugal final for the Dragons took place in 2011, when they defeated Vitoria Guimaraes with a 6-2 score. Since then, the blue and white side has lost two more title matches, against Braga (2016), and last year's against Sporting.
