Preview: Juventus vs Sampdoria

Juventus come into this game off the back of a surprise defeat to Udinese, but by observing the way the Bianconeri performed against the Zebrette, one should not entirely be shocked. Maurizio Sarri's men were quite poor in all aspects across the pitch despite taking the lead - sloppy in defense and failing really to click in attack - and thus gave Udinese the room to claw their way back into the match after going a goal down.

That poor result means that Juventus have won just one of their last five Serie A games, and now have seen their lead on top of the league table cut to just four points thanks to Inter's comfortable 3-0 win over Genoa. Should they fail to beat Sampdoria, the Turin giants could find things a bit more uncomfortable heading into the last two games of the season. At one point, they had Lazio breathing down their necks, but were given a respite after the Aquile basically crumbled, and rapidly fell behind due to a series of awful showings starting with a 3-0 loss to AC Milan. However, Inter, led by none other than ex-Juventus player and coach Antonio Conte, have been quitely plugging along all season, and now have crept up on the Bianconeri.

Sarri will surely be feeling the pressure, as it was Conte who helped build Juventus into the title winning side that they are today, and under his tenure, La Vecchia Signora won numerous pieces of silverware. Unfortunately for the ex-Napoli and Chelsea boss, his debut season in Turin hasn't gone as planned, as he was unable to guide them to victory in the Coppa Italia as they lost to his former side - Napoli - in the final, and thus, with that in mind, he certainly will want to do his utmost best to make sure that the team at the very least make it a ninth straight Scudetto at the end of this season.

Meanwhile, Sampdoria come into this match having lost their most recent match against cross-town rivals Genoa, but that won't worry Claudio Ranieri too much. As things stand, they're actually on better form than their rivals, with three wins from their last five matches, and sit in 14th place on 41 points. They are not in danger of relegation, have no real chance of qualifying for Europe, but have done just enough to ensure their top flight status for yet another season. That being said, they're pretty much in the same boat as Udinese, and the Zebrette threw everything into the game and snatched three points against an out-of-sorts Juventus, so Sampdoria just may be fancying their chances of possibly nicking a point in Turin. Plus, Ranieri has never beaten Sarri - and so he will obviously be hoping to try to get the better of his tactical rival on Sunday.
